Good luck this weekend to awpoops and awpeeps in the Pittsburgh Marathon and Half! Chris, you be the runninest runner of the running runners, so I sincerely hope you finish the 26.2 miles in under fifteen minutes. :)
Things I learned posting this: I have spelled Pittsburgh wrong for mmm,mmm years.
Sunday I’m running the Pittsburgh Marathon. It’ll be my second marathon, and with a little luck, good weather, and plenty of sleep, I think I have a teeny, tiny chance of making the Boston cutoff. I’m pretty confident in the training I’ve done, and have less aches and pains than I did this time before my first Marathon. Most likely, I’ll beat my 3:24 time from last Fall’s NYC Marathon.
That being said, I’m still scared. Even though I’m from the Pittsburgh area, I haven’t really done much running in downtown Pittsburgh. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the course. I’ve seen maps and elevation charts, but unlike New York(where I currently live), I’m not running chunks of the course in my training.
So I’ll probably be watching this fly-through a couple times over and over, hoping that’s enough. I got excited when it got to the last 4 miles (which are all downhill). You run towards the sky-line of downtown, which paired with a bunch of cheering people, should be nice little boost.
Projected forecast for Sunday is a high in the mid 70s with a chance of scattered Thunderstorms.
